Bashirou Mbah, popularly known by his stage name Dura King, is making waves as the “African Baby King.” This talented Cameroonian musician is known for his unique blend of Afrobeats, Dancehall, Zouk, Reggae, and R&B. Born on December 15, 1997, in Batibo, a town in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, Dura King hails from Ashong, a small village in the Momo Division.

Growing up in Ashong, Dura King attended Government School Wumudeng, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He continued his education at Government Bilingual High School Nyalla, earning his Ordinary Level Certificate. For his Advanced Level Certificate, he attended CPC Bali. Currently, Dura King is pursuing university courses to become an IT Specialist.

Dura King’s passion for music began in his childhood. His mother would often buy him toy pianos for Christmas, as they were the only gifts he desired. He wrote his first song in Form 2, which was so well-received that the entire choir learned and performed it during a Sunday service. From that point on, Dura King continued writing songs for the choir and church, focusing primarily on gospel music.

As he entered high school, Dura King decided to explore other genres, including rap and singing. However, he soon realized that the rap scene was oversaturated, so he shifted his focus to Afrobeats and R&B. In 2016, he released his first single, “Orey,” and is now signed to the record label Du.Star Empire.

Dura King’s inspiration comes from various sources, including his emotions, surroundings, and experiences. He has also been influenced by renowned musicians such as Wizkid, Petit Pays, Lucky Dube, and Fally Ipupa. His latest song, “Hallelujah,” is now available on all streaming platforms.
